Our Bungalows – Comfort by the Mekong

Set directly on the Mekong and nestled in our green garden, our seven bungalows – completely rebuilt in 2025 and 2026, with plenty of heart and even more sweat – are waiting for you. The combination of traditional timber construction and solid stone/concrete building creates a warm, cosy atmosphere with modern comfort: your own bathroom, a private veranda with hammock and an unobstructed view of the river landscape. A feature you will rarely find on Don Det – each of our bungalows stands alone, with space between the others, for noticeably more privacy. We can and want to compete with the comfort of a large hotel no more than anyone else; but if you are looking for a small, charming, family-run guesthouse with good food and a relaxed atmosphere in a rural setting, you have come to the right place.

Riverfront Bungalow

Please note: the terrace directly faces the Mekong River.

Six stand-alone bungalows, each for up to 2 guests – ideal for couples or solo travellers looking for peace and an undisturbed view of the Mekong. From your own veranda with not one but two hammocks, your gaze wanders over the river, while inside a tiled room with double bed, air conditioning, mosquito net and fan ensures restful sleep. Towels, bed linen and a modern private bathroom with hot shower are of course included.

Our large Family Bungalow – Mekong View offers space for up to 4 guests in two separate living units – ideal for families, small groups or travel companions who want to travel together but sleep separately. It is the same duplex bungalow as the Mekong Terrace Room: subject to availability, it is rented either as one complete Family Bungalow – Mekong View or as two individual Mekong Terrace Rooms (see above). Here too, guests enjoy a private veranda with hammock, direct Mekong views and the same high-quality amenities as in our other bungalows.

Our duplex bungalow shares one entrance before dividing into two self-contained Mekong Terrace Rooms – each with its own veranda, hammock and the same unobstructed Mekong view as our Riverfront Bungalows, only more compact. It is the ideal choice for couples or solo travellers looking for a slightly smaller and more affordable room without giving up the river view or a private veranda. Subject to availability, the same duplex bungalow is rented either as two individual Mekong Terrace Rooms or as one complete Family Bungalow – Mekong View (see below).
